Project Hygge.

Bear with me; I am not a professional writer by any means. However, I feel a strong need to share our story with anyone who might be interested. Our family has embarked on a journey that is quite familiar to many: the renovation of our beloved home. This blog serves as my personal way of documenting each step we take along the way, capturing the challenges and triumphs we encounter in this process.

Almost three years ago, we found ourselves on the search for the perfect home that would accommodate our growing family dynamics. After having rented different places for a couple of years, we felt ready to invest in a property of our own—one where we could truly sink our teeth into and make our mark. As both of us are designers by profession, the idea of creating and curating a space that aligned with our ideal lifestyle was not only appealing but also incredibly exciting. This journey of discovery and creativity ultimately inspired us to name our venture Project Hygge.

Not able to be directly translated into English, the Danish and Norwegian word "Hygge" is often described as the art of living well and finding contentment in life's simple pleasures. It embodies the essence of coziness, warmth, and comfort, encouraging the creation of an inviting and pleasant environment. This delightful concept encompasses everything you need and desire in a nurturing family home!

“Hygge is about an atmosphere and an experience, rather than about things”

I first came across this intriguing word when I read ‘The Little Book Of Hygge by Meik Wiking’. The concept and meaning of this word resonate with us so profoundly that it has effectively set the entire brief for our upcoming project. So, watch this space closely and see where this exciting journey takes us.
